Welcome to 1860 Schulhaus, a charming and historic venue nestled in the heart of New Melle, MO. Our story begins with a personal connection to this beautiful location, a place that has been a part of our lives and dreams for many years.

In 2015, we celebrated our wedding at this very location (pictured here!) when it was a quaint wine garden. We rented a small, intimate area in the back, perfect for our gathering of about 30 guests. As we planned our wedding, I envisioned a picturesque October outdoor ceremony but knew the unpredictable Midwest weather required a stunning indoor backup plan. Finding a venue that offered both options for a small party was challenging until my husband suggested the wine garden. The moment I saw it, I fell in love. The outdoor area provided the perfect ambiance, and the indoor space was equally enchanting. We were fortunate to have perfect weather on our special day, making it absolutely perfect.

A few years later, the wine garden closed, and the building went up for sale. I had always dreamed of owning it, but with young children and a busy life, it wasn’t the right time. Fast forward a few years, and the building was for sale again. After years of dreaming, I knew this was my chance to turn that dream into reality, so we seized the opportunity.

This building holds deep sentimental value for us—my husband's father attended school here as a child, adding another layer of personal connection. Our goal is to create a venue where others can make their own cherished memories. Truthfully, I never imagined owning a venue until I fell in love with this special property. Now, I can't envision doing anything else, and I believe this venue has found its true calling.
